How To Plump Your Lips—Without Injections

How To Plump Your Lips—Without Injections

Perhaps Instagram filters are to blame, but full, plump lips are hotter than ever right now. Nonetheless, some people don't want to go the filler route to achieve juicy lips, whether it's due to the high investment, fear of needles or concerns about the procedure. If that's you, we have some good news for you: There are lip-plumping tricks that are totally safe, effective, and affordable—no injections required. Keep scrolling for five easy ways to plump your pout.

1. Exfoliate The Lips

If you're not doing this already, add lip exfoliation to your lip-plumping protocol, stat. Exfoliation removes dull, dead skin and helps increase circulation creating a natural plumping effect. To do this, take a wet, clean cloth and gently scrub the lips. You can also exfoliate using a lip scrub.

2. Apply A Rich Balm

Hydration is key for a fuller-looking pout, but lips don’t have oil glands and can’t moisturize and hydrate themselves naturally. So once you exfoliate your lips, generously apply a rich lip balm that contains hyaluronic acid. Hyaluronic acid is a humectant, which attracts moisture leaving the lips feeling soft, smooth, and hydrated. Plus, hyaluronic acid is a common ingredient in fillers, so it gives a subtle plumping effect.

3. Apply A Plumping Lip Gloss

Plumping lip products are all the rage, and with good reason—they create that full lip look without injections. That said, not all plumping lip glosses are created equal. Traditionally, plumping products use ingredients that work as irritants to the lips, such as ginger or cinnamon, to create the plumping effect. However, these irritating ingredients can trigger an allergic reaction in some people.

Our new plumping lip gloss, on the other hand, plumps the lips with a cooling and soothing sensation thanks to a few key ingredients: hyaluronic acid, Volulip (a patented clinically-proven formula that stimulates collagen production), Frescolat® MGA (another patented ingredient that gives a cooling liquid ice sensation), antioxidant vitamin E, and shea butter to moisturize and protect the lips.

And, unlike other lip plumpers, our plumping lip gloss provides long-term skincare benefits and promotes natural hyaluronic acid production. So you can apply it over your favorite lipstick or wear it on its own for a plump pout that lasts for hours, moisturizes all day, and helps rebuild your lips over time.

4. Use Lip Makeup Strategically

When used strategically, lip products can also create the illusion of fuller lips. Opt for lighter shades like nudes and taupes. Darker, sultry lip colors can often make the lips appear thinner. Then add highlighter to the lip's cupid's bow to accentuate the area. And lastly, take a nude lip liner one or two shades darker than your natural lip color and subtly overline the lips. The keyword here is subtly. Overdoing it can make the lips look swollen and unnatural.

5. Reach For A Lip Mask

Having a lip mask in your beauty routine is another must. Lip masks hydrate the lips and help minimize fine lines on the lips and around the mouth, making them look smoother, younger, and fuller.
